Construction of SILO shelving in the sugar factory pt. 6.
Due to reasons outside our influence a little delay occurred during the assembly of the structure and the construction works are finishing only now.
A large part of the shelving is already cased with sheet metal, only the entries for the installation of the stacker cranes remain.
At present, the stacker cranes are being assembled. At first, the column of the stacker cranes is built from three elements, then the stacker crane is precisely installed by means of cranes.
Of course other works are being carried out at the same time, such as the levelling and welding of the rails, the installation of the conveyors and the building of the supporting structure of the overhead conveyor.
ISO 9001 – New QUALITY policy
On 1st December we started with the introduction of a new quality management system, in order to obtain the certificate ISO 9001.
Construction of SILO shelving in the Sugar Factory pt. 5
A few weeks before the construction is planned to be finished, one of the last building stages has begun, that is the installation of the so-called pallet exit area. These works are fairly difficult, as the components have to be installed individually due to the restricted space for handling the large construction elements.
At present, 24 of our employees are working at the site, most of whom are involved in the current building stage, while others are already laying the foundations for the feet of the shelves.
In a few days also the welding of the rails for the upper stacker cranes and the preparation of the stacker cranes for their installation in the shelving shall begin.

Thanks to the favourable weather conditions during this month, the works progressed significantly.
The shelving elements and the roof of the hall are erected on an ongoing basis.
All the 5 corridors, in which the automatic stacker cranes will be operating, are clearly visible and, considering that the structure is 36 m high, one can estimate the magnitude of the work already accomplished.
Unfortunately, as it is with this type of construction, the pace of work is strongly dependent on the weather conditions, but we hope that they will continue to be so, that we can complete the construction before the end of October.

Nearly two months before the scheduled completion of the construction, works on all levels are very advanced.
The outline of the structure is already clearly visible, and thanks to the prefabrication of the elements we can maintain the high pace of work.
We regularly survey the structure.
At the moment, almost 25 people are working at the site; it was also necessary to increase the amount of auxiliary equipment in order to keep up the pace of work.

In the past several days we have erected the first elements of the shelving, the work is still progressing relatively slowly due to the necessity of frequent detailed measurements of the alignment of the pillars on all planes.
As soon as the first blocks will be set, the pace of work will significantly increase; in the meantime the prefabrication of structural components and drilling continues.
Completion of construction of SILO shelving in the HDF boards factory
On 13.06.2011, the construction of the shelving was officially completed following a few days of acceptance. Despite the difficulties arising from bad weather, the project was completed on time.
At the same time we are proud of our employees, because it was another major project supervised only within our company, without the involvement of external supervisors and the client did not raise any objections regarding the construction assembly. This confirms the competence of our construction staff, which allows the client to resign from external supervision and thereby to save much money and also to facilitate the work for us.
The completion of the construction coincided with a visit by the Polish Prime Minister, more information on which can be found HERE.
To sum up, this was so far our largest project in Poland. It surpassed the current leader, i.e. the self-adhesive labels factory (project implemented in 2007).
We are proud of the increasing number of implemented projects of automated rack systems in Poland. So far, in Europe we implemented at least a few of such investments every year, whereas in our country at the most one a year, but we can already see new projects on the horizon, which means a substantial increase in demand for this type of solutions also in Poland.

Another big project started in mid-May. This time the structure will be 36 m high and the goods will be stored with 7 automatic stacker cranes.
As usual, the work began with site preparation, surveying, and layout of holes for anchoring the structure.
At present, drilling and prefabrication of structural elements are at an advanced stage.
Over the next two weeks the number of employees will increase to approximately 20, which will significantly increase the pace of work.
Construction of SILO shelving in the HDF boards factory pt. 3
Due to the approaching deadline for completion of construction, the works on the shelves are close to the end. At the moment about 3/4 of the rack are completed.
Our staff fitted and welded the top and bottom rail, so that a stacker crane could be installed. This was one of the most complicated operations throughout the entire construction process. A structure of nearly 30 tons had to be lifted with a crane and set with a precision of a few millimetres.
Next, we plan to make the concrete floor levelling underneath the stacker crane rail and then to complete the rack structure.
Construction of SILO shelving in the HDF boards factory -contd.
Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, due to which we had to stop working as the temperature dropped below -25 degrees and the wind blew at a speed of above 20 m/s, approximately 7 days ago we managed to complete the works on the support tower.
After acceptance of the structural measurements, the main construction phase began (erection of the central part of the rack), which will end with the installation of the stacker crane.
Works on the rack roof are also advanced (as to be seen in the pictures).
To meet the deadline, we worked in multi-shift mode to make up for the delays caused by the earlier interruptions.
Construction of SILO shelving in the HDF boards factory
The works in the HDF boards factory started at the beginning of January. The planned construction is a 26 m high "silo” shelving with automatic stacker crane. The assumed load-bearing capacity is 15 tons at the highest storage level.
The first stage of work consisted in the survey the base plates for the rack, the layout of the rack grid and the preparation of the rest and refreshment facilities for the later work stages. These operations were performed by 7 people in 6 days.
The next step was to start drilling holes under the feet of the structure (a total of 680 holes with ø 24 and 130 holes with ø 35). Due to the exceptional strength of the flooring, these works are carried out exclusively with boring machines. In the meantime, prefabrication of construction elements began. Up to date, about 20 people are involved in the works.
In the coming days, we shall begin to install the tower which will support the structure. After the surveying performed by our own employees, we shall be able to proceed with the erection of further construction elements.
